About the workshop
The AF1 remote workshop concentrates on the key technical knowledge and exam techniques that are essential for an AF1 exam pass.
The workshop will run 9:30am – 4:30pm on both days. Delivered on Zoom.
Places are limited to 12 attendees.
The AF1 exam tests your ability to demonstrate and apply your technical knowledge of tax and trusts. It builds on the core R03 knowledge, and requires you to be able to analyse case study details, and critically appraise the financial options available to the clients. Your answers need to be clear, concise, precise, and related to the case study scenarios. You’ll need to be able to evaluate the complex needs of clients and recommend solutions across the learning outcomes.
The AF1 workshop allows you to benefit from a group environment where we go through some of the key elements of tax and trusts. You’ll see worked examples and can ask questions to consolidate your studies as we move towards the final revision period.
You will be amazed at what you learn by being part of the workshop group and ‘having a go’ at the questions.
Technical areas that may come up will be covered and revised, and group discussions around possible questions and answers will help a lot.
Bear in mind, these are pre-exam prep workshops, and you’ll need to have completed the study guide in advance. We can’t fit 150 hours of study and cover the entire syllabus in 2-days.

Workshop attendees will receive a set of digital materials including specimen questions and answer feedback. Plus, a selection of technical crib sheets to organise your learning.

Recommended prior learning
Just like any other CII exam, some self-study first is required. It is not just a question of attending a workshop and practising possible exam questions. Self-study across different technical areas is a must, to give you the best possible chance of a pass.

The viability of a workshop is based on minimum delegate numbers. If you need to cancel your space, please let us know in writing as soon as possible and no later than one week prior to the start date. Cancellations after this point will not be refunded unless a replacement delegate can be found, as this would impact on the course for your fellow delegates. If BTS cancels the workshop, the cost of attending the workshop will be refunded in full.
