The key to exam success is not just reading and learning technical information parrot fashion.
Think of your BTS study guide as the first step on your very own revision track. You’ll be able to check your progress throughout, using activities, practice questions and end of chapter tests.
As you work through each chapter, you will gradually cover the full CF6 syllabus and practise the required exam techniques through the use of:
You don’t need to purchase the examining body version of the text book – you can opt to sit the exam stand-alone by selecting ‘assessment only’ on the CII website and then order a BTS Study Guide instead.
BTS study guides are available in a choice of two formats: printed or digital. The content is the same for both versions, the choice depends on which works best for you.
Digital study guides are designed as an online interactive guide, perfect for people who learn best using on-screen interactive tools. They are fully optimised for mobile and tablet displays meaning you can study on the go. Digital study guides are not pdfs and are not printable or downloadable.
Digital study guides are available to access online for a 120-day subscription period. If you think you will need longer than 120 days to complete your study of the unit we advise you to choose the printed version instead.
Access your digital study materials online via your PC or mobile by logging into your BTS account and viewing your Dashboard.
Printed study guides are designed for people who learn best using physical, paper materials and like to highlight sections and make notes on their study materials.
Orders for printed study guides placed before 2pm Monday – Friday are processed and dispatched the same day. Delivery is by local courier and is usually within two working days of dispatch.
Delivery times may vary depending on the destination address.
Free samples of both formats are available in the shop, so you can ‘try before you buy’.

Are you planning to take the AF4 exam in March but feeling unsure about where to begin?
Our comprehensive course is designed to cater for all learning styles and follows the BTS’ Read-Watch-Practise approach. This structured course aims to give you the best chance of achieving success in this challenging unit.
Whilst you read through the BTS Study Guide chapters, we will provide you with five videos to further enhance your understanding. Additionally, we understand the importance of putting your knowledge into practice. Therefore, at timetabled intervals, we will host live webinars where you can practice answering different types of questions that may appear in the AF4 exam. These webinars will be recorded and available to watch up to the day of your exam.
To consolidate your learning, we have included two workshop days at the end of the course.
We believe that those who prefer a more hands-on approach will greatly benefit from and even enjoy our AF4 Coaching Support programme. You will be amazed at what you learn by being part of this cohort and ‘having a go’ at the questions. Technical areas that may come up will be covered and revised, and group discussions around possible questions and answers will help a lot.
Delivered on Zoom. Places are limited.
Four videos covering key technical areas will be uploaded to your BTS dashboard in line with the programme schedule.
Following the release of each video, five one-hour Zoom webinars will be held on 2nd July, 16th July, 29th July, 13th August and 26th August, commencing at 5.00pm. Recordings will be made available after each event.
At the end of the course, two full day Zoom workshop dates will be held on 12th & 19th September, commencing at 09:30 sharp and finish by 16:30.

Workshops are scheduled in the weeks leading up to each AF5 exam sitting to enable you to focus your preparation on the released fact-find.
What is the BTS AF5 workshop like? The workshop concentrates on the key technical knowledge and exam techniques that are essential for an AF5 exam pass. The workshop is scheduled for the week following the release of the AF5 exam fact find. BTS will have analysed the AF5 fact find prior to the workshop, and the workshop day will involve working through model questions and answers to practice key AF5 exam techniques and technical knowledge. You will have the opportunity to ask and discuss questions in a group forum as well, to prepare for the AF5 exam sitting as much as possible. AF5 workshop dates are available for each sitting of the exam. If you can’t see a date that works for you, get in touch to ask about more options.
The workshop is ideal preparation in the lead up to your AF5 exam sitting.
What makes the AF5 workshop so useful?
A workshop is a live online event where you can benefit not just from the BTS trainer but also from working alongside others studying for the same exam.
Discussions within the group can help to reassure you and improve your understanding of key exam areas.
You’ll get out of your day as much as you put in (and more!).
Access to the AF5 fact-find analysis e-Learning module is included in the workshop fee, so workshop attendees don’t need to purchase the e-Learning separately.
Access to the AF5 fact-find analysis for the previous exam sitting (for past paper practise) will be provided when your booking has been confirmed.
The BTS analysis for your sitting will then be automatically added to your account within four days of the release of the fact-find.
You’ll also be able to continue your conversations with your fellow AF5 candidates in our student-led forums.
Login to your BTS account and head over to the Careers Zone to access our forums.
Delivered on Zoom. Places are limited.
The day will commence at 09:30 sharp and finish by 16:30, with breaks timetabled for lunch etc throughout the day.
