Get yourself prepared for exam success with our bitesize revision workshop!

Our CII Tutors will cover the key technical content from the chapters being discussed in each session. Clarifying complex topics with examples and discussion, and test your understanding using CII exam-style questions. SESSIONS COVERED CHAPTERS 1, 2 AND 3 EVENT INFORMATION: By the end of this session, you will be able to:

Explain moral and physical hazards and duty of fair presentation
Explain how and why underwriters get material information
Describe procedures and questions regarding proposal forms
Outline how premiums are calculated, collected and taxed
State the meaning of common policy conditions and exclusions
Describe warranties, conditions, excesses and franchises

CHAPTERS 5, 6 AND 8 EVENT INFORMATION: By the end of this session, you will be able to:

Describe features & cover of key personal insurance products
Explain underwriting and key features of commercial products
Outline generic and specific underwriting principles
Identify processes used to detect & deal with fraudulent claims
Describe impact of fraud on insurers, insureds and claimants
Explain the effects of Equality Act and Data Protection Act

CHAPTERS 4, 7 AND 9 EVENT INFORMATION: By the end of this session, you will be able to:

Explain process relating to renewals & cancellations clauses
Outline use of helplines, risk managers & authorised repairers
State key types of operational date needed by senior managers
Define impact of claims & underwriting terms on premium rates
Explain claims loss ratios and monitoring & accounting periods

CHAPTERS 10 AND 11 EVENT INFORMATION: By the end of this session, you will be able to:

Explain factors to consider in assessing a risk premium
Identify concept of Return of Capital Employed
Explain the effects of expense costs and tax on premium rates
Describe the basic factors influencing the market cycle
Describe risk accumulation & the considerations of reinsurance

Come Prepared

Review your study materials and note down any topics or questions you’re struggling with.

Bring your CII textbook, notes, and a list of specific areas you want to focus on.

Take notes on key points, especially tips and techniques shared by the Tutor.

Focus on Exam Technique

Pay close attention to any practice questions or mock exam sections.

The workshop will take place on Microsoft Teams. Places are limited. You’ll receive an email confirmation with the link and joining instructions.

Cancellation Policy:

The viability of a workshop is based on minimum delegate numbers.

If you need to cancel your space, please let us know in writing as soon as possible and no later than 48 hours prior to the start date and time of your Workshop.

Cancellations after this point will not be refunded unless a replacement delegate can be found, as this would impact on the course for your fellow delegates.

If BTS cancels the workshop, the cost of attending the workshop will be refunded in full.
