R02 workshops are split across two days. We recommend you book onto both but, if you prefer, you can just attend the day that covers the areas you need.
A BTS trainer will guide you through a focused, interactive day with other learners, helping you build exam technique, question-answering skills and confidence with the CII’s wording. R02 workshop dates are added throughout the year. If you can’t see a suitable date, get in touch to ask about other options.
Day 1:
Covering LO1: Asset classes and LO6: Investment Products
With LO1, we will be assessing how different asset classes equities, bonds, property, and cash behave, the risks they carry, including volatility, liquidity risk, and market risk and how the asset classes correlate with one another, and how this correlation can help reduce the overall risk.
When we move onto LO6, we will examine different investment products including both direct investments and indirect collective investments such as unit trusts, OEICs, and investment trusts understanding the advantages and disadvantages of each, the risks they come with, how they tend to behave, and any tax points to keep in mind. Various trusts, funds and savings products will be discussed.
Day 2:
Covering LO7: The investment advice process and LO8: Principles of investment planning
LO7 looks at how the investment advice process is actually applied including advice regarding asset allocation. Understanding and applying Know Your Client (KYC) requirements, such as risk profile, objectives and financial situation to ensure we meet client needs and regulatory requirements.
Understanding the principles of investment planning comes under LO8. We will examine the portfolio construction process, strategic asset allocation and how we can make sure that a client’s portfolio matches their objectives. As well as knowledge of investment platforms and how they are used to manage client investments.
We will also introduce key areas from other R02 Learning Outcomes where we can.
A workshop is ideal either for some last minute exam revision, or if you are at the start of your studies and perhaps struggling with all those formulae!
A workshop is a live event where you can benefit not just from the BTS trainer but also from working alongside others studying for the same exam.
Discussions within the group can help to reassure you and improve your understanding of key exam areas.
You’ll get out of your day as much as you put in (and more!).
After the workshop you will have 180-days access to a set of digital revision materials which include:
Slides from the workshop, practice tests, technical revision sheets and a specimen exam with explained answers, so you continue your learning after the event.
Delivered on Teams. Places are limited.
Each day will commence at 09:30 sharp and finish by 16:30, with breaks timetabled for lunch etc throughout the day.
Please be advised that these sessions may be recorded for internal training and quality purposes only. Recordings won’t be shared with attendees after the workshop, so live attendance is required.
Cancellation Policy:
The viability of a workshop is based on minimum delegate numbers.
If you need to cancel your space, please let us know in writing as soon as possible and no later than two weeks prior to the start date.
Cancellations after this point will not be refunded unless a replacement delegate can be found, as this would impact on the course for your fellow delegates.
If BTS cancels the workshop, the cost of attending the workshop will be refunded in full.
