The exam is based on the exam syllabus and is a QCF level 4 qualification. Successful completion provides 20 credits towards the Diploma in Financial Planning, as well as the Certificate in Securities Advice and Dealing.
The aim of the Securities Advice and Dealing paper is to test your ability to answer multiple choice questions in the time allowed. The J12 questions test your knowledge of the features and risks of different securities and their markets, as well as the ability to apply this knowledge in making investment recommendations.
You will also need to be able to analyse and assess information and reach logical conclusions.
The exam lasts 2 hours and includes 60 multiple choice questions plus three case studies, with five questions each. In 2024, the national pass rate was 82%.
