The LM2 exam follows the official syllabus and is a Level 3 Cert CII qualification. To earn this certification, you need at least 40 CII credits at certificate level.
The exam tests your ability to answer questions within the time limit on topics such as the structure and regulation of the London Market, the types of risks written, the roles of brokers and underwriters, the processes of reinsurance and delegation as well as premium calculation and loss / exposure modelling.
The exam lasts 2 hours and includes 75 multiple choice questions. 55 of these are multiple-choice with four possible options. The other 20 questions are based on case studies. You will be given 4 short case studies during the exam and presented with 5 multiple-choice questions per case study, based on the info within it. The 2024 pass rate for the LM2 exam was 65.8%.
